Study: More parents are smoking weed...

Mom and Dad are smoking fewer cigarettes and more weed, the New York Post reports.

New research from Columbia University shows cannabis use went from 11 percent in 2002 to 17 percent in 2015.

In addition, In 2002, 5 percent of parents smoked while their kids were home. That number went up to 7 percent in 2015, according to data from the National Survey and Drug Use and Health.

Researchers worry that weed’s surging popularity will place kids at risk for secondhand-smoke exposure, similar to cigarettes.

However, the NY Post reports more research needs to be done on the effects of secondhand smoke from marijuana.

A 2016 study by the American Heart Association showed one minute of secondhand marijuana smoke impairs vascular functions in rats for up to 90 minutes.
